How it Plays

Find a large rubber or plastic ball (a heavier ball works best) and about six empty plastic water bottles. Weight each of these "bowling pins" with about one-half cup of sand or small pebbles. You can fill them using a kitchen funnel, or cut a soda bottle in half and use the spout as a funnel. Cap the bowling pins tightly. Place them at one end of a room, and position your bowler several feet away. Demonstrate how to roll the ball to knock the pins down. You'll be surprised how quickly he catches on. Strike!

What You'll Need

  • Learning and Growing

This is a wonderful way to encourage your baby or toddler's developing eye-hand coordination as well as his understanding of cause and effect.
