Will my 6-week-old become sick if I switch from breast milk to formula?
You have given your baby
a great start by breastfeeding
for the first six weeks. Compared with formula-fed babies, breastfed babies have a reduced risk of ear infections, respiratory illness, and infectious diarrhea. You may want to reconsider the switch to formula, especially if your baby
will be attending a large child care facility soon with exposure to many infections. Even breastfeeding
for half of the feeds will give your baby
some of the immune benefits.
