[LOGAN CRIES]
LAUREN: When I first witnessed Logan misbehaving, I was like, "Oh great, here comes the terrible twos."
LOGAN: Buh buh buh buh.
LAUREN: Mmm-mmm.
AARON: Logan.
LOGAN: I want.
LOGAN: I want to play.
AARON: I was trying to follow through with my discipline. I think Lauren sometimes doesn't.
LAUREN: I'll stick with my threat, but I'll kind of finagle it a little bit, so Logan still gets what he wants.
[GRAPHIC OPEN]
AARON: Who's home? Oh.
LAUREN: Daddy's home.
LAUREN: When Aaron gets home from work, I want him to spend good time with Logan.
[01:57]
AARON: I don't want to be the dad that comes home, disciplines him, puts him to bed. I want to be able to have fun with him, I want him to have memories.
AARON: What do you say when you put the puck in the net?
LOGAN: Score.
AARON: Score.
AARON: I'd never tell Lauren this-
LOGAN: I say score.
AARON: But I, I really shouldn't get him all riled up, and play hockey with him, or tickle him, but if I don't, other than on the weekends, I'm not really getting that play time. Kind of got to get as much love in as I can.
LAUREN: Once the hockey sticks come out, and we're doing slap shots, Logan's all "Woo, it's a party!" And it's not, then he doesn't want a bath, and then he doesn't want books, and then he doesn't want bed.
AARON: It's time to put the sticks away, OK?
LOGAN: No. I don't want to.
AARON: Logan. Logan.
LAUREN: No offense, honey, but when you only have to do it twice in the morning and twice at night, discipline and stick to your guns-
AARON: It's harder.
LAUREN: No, it's easier. When you do it twenty times throughout the day, and listen to the repercuss- repercussion of him, like, whining and screaming, sometimes you have to pick your battles.
[02:02]
AARON: You know why? Because you give in.
LAUREN: I don't.
LOGAN: I'm painting.
LAUREN: Logan's best friend that he adores and loves is going to come over for a play date.
MCKENNA: I want to make one for Daddy.
SHANNON: You're going to make one for Daddy, too?
MCKENNA: Yeah.
LOGAN: Hi.
LAUREN: McKenna's mom Shannon, her and I met at Mommy and Me, and we've grown close since.
LAUREN: Wow.
LAUREN: So we do a lot of things together.
MCKENNA: Boo.
LOGAN: Boo. Boo.
LAUREN: Can Kenna try your scooter?
LOGAN: No, no.
LAUREN: When it comes to disciplining Logan, playing with other kids, the only thing that I can try to do is just be consistent, and offer consequences and follow through.
[MCKENNA CRIES]
LAUREN: Logan. No. That's Kenna's cookie. You don't take from her.
LOGAN: No no no.v
LAUREN: Let Kenna try it, please.
LAUREN: I think it's like a test, it's a game. It's to, to push me, to see how far I'll go.
[03:00]
LAUREN: Logan.
LOGAN: No.
LAUREN: No. That is not OK at all.
[MCKENNA CRIES]
LAUREN: You just hurt McKenna. You will not get your Thissey tonight, for that. That was terrible. Bring her these ice, and go ask her if she's OK. Can you tell her you're sorry?
LOGAN: Sorry.
LAUREN: Look it. Do you see that mark you left on her? You don't get your Thissey tonight, for biting McKenna. Why don't you ask McKenna nicely if she'd like to do something else with you?
LOGAN: Want to do something else with me? Want to cook some dinner in my kitchen?
MCKENNA: [INAUDIBLE]
LAUREN: Sometimes, when he acts out, I, you know, I start to question my parenting techniques, and then I'll find a book, or I'll look online, and then it's like, this is silly. You know, every child is different. Every child's going to have their own issues, and I know at his age, this is a problem.
[04:05]
AARON: You know, when I come home, and I hear that, you know, Logan's misbehaved that day, whether he's bit somebody, he's pushed someone.
AARON: What's wrong?
LOGAN: I'm sorry.
AARON: As much as I want to play hockey with him, as much as I want to make him smile and laugh, I have to discipline him, and that kills me. Because I haven't seen him all day, and now the first thing he thinks when I come home, is "Oh, here comes mean dad." I don't want to be the mean dad.
AARON: What don't you have in your bed?
LOGAN: Thissey.
AARON: Why don't you have your Thissey?
LOGAN: Because I bite Kenna.
AARON: Because, that's not funny. That's not nice to do, right? Can't bite. And you can't push. That's why you don't have your Thissey.
AARON: I know I have to, because I have to be on Lauren's team. When it comes down to it, we're a team.
AARON: Will you give me a kiss? We're going to go to the-
LOGAN: Beach.
AARON: Play in the-
[05:00]
LOGAN: Sand.
AARON: Hold my Daddy's-
LOGAN: Hold my Daddy's hand.
AARON: You know, I'm guilty of expecting too much out of Logan. Take me to jail, I'm guilty. And I have to step back sometimes, and say he's only two and a half.
vAARON: I'm really happy and proud that you made him say he's sorry, and take care of her, and he'll figure it out, and we'll figure it out. But you followed through.
AARON: What are you going to dream about?
LOGAN: Stars.
AARON: And?
LOGAN: And the moon.
AARON: And?
LOGAN: And school.
AARON: OK. Tell me about it in the morning, OK, buddy? I love you.
AARON: I'm so proud of him, you know, that he's learning, and it, and, uh, it's a great feeling as a father.
vAARON: Good night.
