When to Change a Diaper
In the first couple of months, you may find yourself changing diapers up to 10 times in 24 hours. Diapers should be changed whenever they are wet or soiled. Your baby will often (but not always) let you know. With a super-absorbent diaper like Pampers diapers, you can tell if it's wet by feeling for lumps in the absorbent material.

Here are some common times for changing diapers:

  • Right before or right after every feeding
  • After every bowel movement
  • Before bedtime
  • When your baby wakes up
  • When you go out with your baby

The Art of Changing Diapers
Pampers Diapers are designed to adjust to your baby's shape for a snug, comfortable fit. While changing diapers there's no need to fold the waistband in or out or to adjust the leg cuffs.

  • Place tabs parallel to the waistband and centered on the character strip.
  • Use the characters as guides to ensure the fasteners are evenly spaced.
  • Keep baby products such as powder away from the fasteners so they maintain their stickiness.

Wiping baby bottoms

All Pampers baby wipes help clean away bacteria, even after a wet change. Have a supply handy while changing diapers to help keep your baby clean and fresh.

For baby girls, while changing diapers always wipe from front to back to minimize the amount of stool material that gets near her genitals. Also, be careful to clean all areas, as the folds in the skin around her genitals can hide urine and soil.

Treating and preventing diaper rash
Red bumps on your baby's bottom may mean diaper rash. It can be caused by many factors, including leaving urine or bowel movement on the skin too long between changing diapers or even as a result of taking antibiotics. And when your baby starts solid foods, wait a few days between introducing each new food to see if the rash was caused by a particular food.

If your baby has diaper rash, clean the entire diapered area gently but thoroughly with a baby wipe. It is also helpful to allow air to reach the skin. Talk to your pediatrician or pharmacist if the rash does not improve.

Finding the right size
Just like you, babies like to wear things that fit just right. Choose a size that does not sag or gap, even as your baby crawls and plays. This will help prevent leaks. Each product description on this site gives guidelines that represent the average weight for a particular size. And remember, when you move up a size, you gain absorbency.

Weighing babies
The easiest way to weigh your baby is to first hop on the scale yourself. See how much you weigh, then see how much you weigh when you hold your baby. If you subtract your weight, you'll know how much your baby weighs.

Safe diapering
You buy the latest toys and babies wind up playing with silly things - like diapers. It's important to keep diapers where they should be, on your baby's bottom. Don't let your baby put the diaper in her mouth. Discard any diaper that has become torn or unsealed, and read the warning label on all bags.

Diaper gel facts
AGM is the absorbent gelling material widely used in diaper padding to absorb wetness. It is perfectly normal to see some gel on the skin from time to time, especially if the diaper is heavily saturated. It can easily be removed by wiping your baby's skin.

This material has a long history of safe use in a variety of products and has been in diapers for more than a decade. Absorbent gelling material is closely related to ingredients widely used in cosmetics, in food processing and as binders in medicine capsules.

Waste removal

As the Pampers bag recommends, you'll want to dump bowel movements in the toilet. Then just roll the diaper into its backsheet, using the tape or fasteners to keep it closed, and dispose of it in the trash.

Diaper storage

Store your diapers in an area protected from extreme heat and humidity and away from products with fragrances. We recommend the diaper be kept in a dry storage area where the temperature is 85 degrees or less.

Folks that don't approve of the new Cruisers changes I encourage you to take a few minutes and call Pampers. DEMAND answers! Report and post on this and other message boards your thoughts. BE THE SQUEAKY WHEEL! It seems the only way to effect change in the USA. It should also be noted that this review board seems to get wiped every week so PAST reviews will not be able to be seen.

I am going to be switching to Huggies - this is clearly a bait and switch to get us all to purchase their more expensive premium diapers. I called today and they told me that the "new Cruisers" are going to be redone again, with some special lotion liner, but they couldn't tell me when they were coming out and they are not going to be marking it on the box...

We were loyal Pampers users starting with Swaddlers (great!) when our son was born and were ecstatic when we moved on to Cruisers and found them to be absolutely fabulous. Well, with the NEW Cruisers our thoughts have now changed and we are in search of a new diaper like so many others on this review board. Cheap paper cover rather then the dry mesh liner, less absorbent material in front and back that promotes leaks. We had 4 nights in a row with leaks, soaked pjs/bed and diaper rash as a result. Not such a hot decision Pampers. After doing some more research I believe that these "changes" (removal of half of the absorbency pad and dry mesh liner) was not made to make a better standard Cruisers diaper (as told to me by the representative I talked to) but rather to add a NEW product line utilizing features from a line that was VERY successful and just like that Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Ultra Absorbency is born. IMO this is bait and switch. P&G/Pampers decision to go this route most likely include: CUTTING COSTS, LESS DIAPERS FOR THE $, MAKING THE USER PAY MORE and ultimately more $ in their pockets all around. Interesting that Target and BJs are the only stores carrying the Cruisers Ultra Absorbency diaper...can anyone say test market? Let’s take a look at the count and cost. Old (superior) Cruisers = 140 count for the size 4 at a cost of $40 Use to have the dry mesh liner and absorbent material all the way up in the front and back, it does not have these features now but the price has stayed the same. New Cruisers with Ultra Absorbency (extra padding AND the dry liner mesh is back! WOW, if that was such a bad part of the original product [again told to me by the rep] then WHY for goodness sakes would they add it back into another product???) = 116 count for size 4 at a cost of $40 Now this breaks down to a .6 cent difference in a per diaper cost, not much you might think BUT .6 cents sure does add up when you factor this by the millions of boxes that are sold. Shame on Pampers for trying to wring another dime out of products that people depend on and ALREADY pay top dollar for. Times are hard all around but I feel like Pampers has tried to pull the wool over users eyes with these changes rather then being straight up, that’s really the rub with me, the deception. I believe a better approach would have been to go ahead and make the changes to the Pampers Cruisers line, rename it “Pampers Economy” then introduce the NEW CRUISERS “Cruisers Premium” for an increased price, which are basically the old Pampers Cruisers with dry mesh liner and absorbent material to the top of the front and back. This change would have been a lot more transparent to the user IMO and not as deceptive. I still say, bring back the original Pampers Cruisers, with the mesh liner and absorbent material to the top of the front and back!!! I’d also be apart of the test group if need be, give me a call.
