Question
Is it possible that my breast milk is bad for my 11-week-old?
Answer
Let me assure you that your milk is not "bad." Your
baby is average weight for a 10-week-old at 12 pounds. The range of normal weights at this age is quite wide, but in general most babies double their
birth weight by 6 months of age. Presently, at 11 weeks of age, your
baby should still be nursing every two to four hours for 10 to 15 minutes on each breast. She probably also still wakes up to breastfeed one or two times in the night. When you introduce solid foods at about 6 months of age, she will begin to nurse less frequently and sleep through the night.
