Question
My 10-month-old has become attached to her teddy bear. At what age is it safe to allow her to take it to bed?
Answer
It's unsafe to place pillows, bulky covers, or large stuffed toys in an
infant's crib because they could smother a young
infant. And a
toddler could use any of these objects to climb out of the crib. But there's no harm in placing a small teddy bear in the crib anytime after 6 months of age. Often such familiar objects help babies them feel safe, calm, and ready for sleep. It sounds as if your
baby has already figured that out.
