Question
Is it safe to place a baby in the front seat of a pickup truck?
Answer
That is your best choice in this circumstance, but it isn't a very good one. The
infant seat needs to be installed correctly and be placed facing backward. You will need a third seat belt in the front so that the adults and the
infant in the seat all can be secure. It will be increasingly hard to drive with a
toddler or preschooler seat installed in that front seat and it will only get more dangerous as the
baby grows. I suggest that a new vehicle be on the top of your
baby gift list as car injury will be the biggest risk to your
infant after an uncomplicated
pregnancy and
birth.
A
new baby presents a lot of transitions for the adults who care for him or her. Giving up that single seat truck may be one of them for you guys. I feel for you. I had to give up a red sports car I loved.
