Question
I would like to paint my newborn's crib a different color. What paint, if any, could I use to paint his crib without being harmful to him?
Answer
Paints manufactured after 1978 are required to be lead-free, so as long as you're not using any paint that's more than 20 years old, it should be safe for use.
When you're painting and for a few days after, have the
baby sleep in another room, one with good ventilation. The odor of new paint is not harmful on a short-term basis, but it can be unpleasant. And make sure the paint is completely dry before you return your
baby to his crib. Have fun!
