Pampers’ Sustainability Journey
Changing a diaper is probably one of the first things you learn to do when caring for your baby. As you think about your little one and the world they’ll grow up in, you may wonder how these essential products impact the environment.
For us, caring for babies also means taking care of the planet. We’re committed to delivering the safety, quality, and performance you expect from Pampers while continually reducing our carbon footprint and rethinking materials and waste.
We don’t have all the answers, but we’re learning and making progress along the way.
Our efforts ladder up to our parent company P&G’s strategy to reduce our own impact, enable people to reduce their impact, and help scale solutions across industries.
Did you know?
Embracing smaller footprints
From the ingredients we use to our supply chain, right through to manufacturing and packaging, we’re working to reduce our carbon footprint. It’s a journey we can’t make alone – it involves us, our suppliers, and many others.
It all starts with understanding where our carbon footprint comes from. We use scientific methods like Life Cycle Assessments to identify where we can make the biggest difference, such as focusing on our raw materials and how we source them.
The efforts we’re making here contribute to 2030 goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, which pace our progress toward our parent company P&G’s Net Zero ambition by 2040.
Rethinking materials and waste
But it doesn’t stop there. Given how waste infrastructure varies from community to community, we’re also testing a range of different approaches and waste management solutions through alliances, pilots, and partnerships.
One of our partners, the Responsible Flushing Alliance, helps us convey the importance of proper disposal. Did you know that RFA surveyed waste treatment locations in Northern and Southern California and found that 99% of all things flushed shouldn’t be? On all our Pampers baby wipes, you’ll find a “Do Not Flush” symbol as a helpful reminder to always toss baby wipes in the trash. Together, we can protect our pipes and ensure products are disposed of appropriately.
We acknowledge sustainability for diapers can be complex, with no single or simple solutions. This is why we’ve gathered your most frequent questions and our answers right here. And if you can’t find your answer there, contact us here.
