Dear Baby – I Want You to Know What it Means to Me to Be your Mom

-

Dear Baby,

I am only a few months into this motherhood journey, but it didn’t take me long to realize you have given me the absolute greatest and most terrifying role of my lifetime. On the day you were born, my heart filled with a love I didn’t even know existed and a love that continues to grow with each passing day.

When I was pregnant, a wise mom told me, “Your life truly doesn’t start until you have children.” While I had a great life before your arrival, it’s become even better than I could have ever imagined now that you’re here.

Being Your Mom

Being your mom means priorities have shifted, perspective has changed, and I have a new form of responsibility that is a true honor. It is a big world we live in and I promise to make sure you feel loved and secure every step of the way. I hope to equip you with all of the tools you need to take on this journey. Always remember, the sky's the limit.

Since being inducted into motherhood, every emotion I feel is now deeper — love, fear, excitement, fatigue, pain, and joy. The small stuff is truly small and the big issues feel that much bigger. Those emotions have charged me to evoke change in my life, our community and world to make it a better place for you.

Experiencing all of your firsts together and seeing the world through your eyes makes everything feel new again. Holidays, family time, vacations, weekends — all of these things have new meaning. Even the most mundane tasks have a new sense of purpose and excitement surrounding them.

Thank You

Thank you for making me your mom. You have already made me a better person and I will continue to rise to the challenge to nurture, teach, and inspire you. And as your dad says, “I love you so much, it hurts.”

Love you always and forever,

Mom
